Thanks for visiting.
Ben was born in Liverpool in May 1978 and was brought up in Rainhill and St Helens.
He went to his local state primary and secondary schools, and studied Politics at the University of Liverpool. He was the first member of his family to go to University.
After several years in management consultancy (specialising in advising government and public sector bodies), working for Accenture and KPMG, Ben now works for a medical regulator. He lives in London with his wife, but spends lots of time in the North West working, campaigning, and visiting family and friends. Ben has strong links to Halton having grown up nearby and with his family living in the neighbouring constituencies. Ben is a school governor in London and a member of the schools finance committee.
Away from politics, Ben is a passionate Liverpool FC fan, regularly attending games, and a keen golfer (when time allows!). He enjoys playing and watching most sports and spending time with his wife, family, and friends. His favourite films are The Godfather Parts 1 & 2 and Airplane. He is a huge fan of the music of Tony Bennett and The Beatles.
Ben in Halton
In November 2008, Ben was selected as the Conservative Partys Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Halton. Since then he has been hard at work.
Ben has met a range of people and organisations across Halton to discuss key issues affecting local people. He has spoken out on a range of topics, including in strong support of the Mersey Gateway project, and for a fair deal on tolls for local people and businesses.
Ben has been working closely with the hard-working Conservative Councillors in Halton to support local people on issues such as the Bold Heath Quarry, the Farnworth Green Belt proposed development, the Travellers Transit Site, and the Liverpool City Region plans.
Ben has met with senior officers at Cheshire Police to discus law and order in Halton and spent a Friday night on patrol with Widnes Neighbourhood Policing Unit.
He has also been campaigning with local Councillors and supporters in Halton against the 100% Council Tax increase since 1998, and offering a Conservative alternative.
He is also raising important national and European issues in advance of June 4th European Elections and has made a complete openness pledge on MPs expenses.
Ben and local Conservatives have set up a social action project which will help clean up parts of Halton in the second half of 2009.
Ben is passionate of a need for a Conservative government and more Conservative Councillors to give Halton and the country the change it needs.
Bens political experience
Ben joined the Conservative Party in 1992. He has been an active member, holding a number of posts, including Secretary of St Helens South Conservative Association.
In 1997, he spoke at the Party Conference, aged 17.
Ben helped manage the final two weeks of Stephen OBriens successful 2001 General Election campaign.
In 2004 he was a member of the James Committee, working on the Department of Work and Pensions Team, identifying inefficiencies in government IT projects.
Recently he was a member of the City Seats Team in Merseyside helping increase the vote in Liverpool by 37% in the 2008 local elections.
He was selected to fight Halton at the next general election in November 2008.
